Немного правды о SACD

взаимопроникновение каналов строится по пикам, а не по "мощности", кстати а где сам спектр? ;)

последние измерения по DSD:

"DSD vs PCM - This is where he floored me. He explained thatto him, DSD is NOT the preferred method of archiving analog music to the digital format. He said that most studios he works at are getting away from encoding in DSD, and instead are encoding in PCM. If the record company is putting out a SACD of that title, they then CONVERT the PCM to DSD for SACD release (which to Me, makes all the "does this player convert DSD to PCM posts kinda pointless!!)

Why? because in his words "DSD drastically changes whats on those tapes. Its nowhere near representative of the master. Its not what one should use as an archiving format, at all. Im not about that. Its pretty much useless for that pupose"

He went on to say that its mostly the midrange that DSD changes. He said that DSD softens and dulls the midrange , especially on classical. He used the analogy of the old Ribbon mics of the 50s, and how they did the same thing to voices. He said that on some things it sounds good, but if youre archiving, you want exactly whats on the tapes, nothing more and nothing less, and that DSD does not do that.
He said on a classical piece, if the violins violently "attack" a note, the DSD stream doesnt catch it, it "flattens" the attack and then its gone forever. No amount of DAW manipulation can get it back.

He said that PCM at 24 bits sounds extremely "accurate", and unbiased , and that he cant see things getting much better than that from a reissue perspective.

He also mentioned that DSD has a nasty habit of "rejecting" certain musical info that it doesnt understand. Something a jazz tape where the drummer plays brushes on a cymbal. DSD doesnt "like" that kind of sound and instead, injects "white noise" into the bit stream. The result on a disk is a blurry, smeared sound of the brushes.@"

И до кучи - сравнение с PCM 44.1/16:

"The CD playback had more accurate tonality than the DSD/SACD playback. The DSD playback had more resolution than the CD playback."
