Just a few words about the service menu : press the Vol- and the Prog- buttons (on TV front, not on the remote control), wait for 10 seconds, the menu appears, press the Exit key of the remote control, it disappears, select some source and press the Guide key of the remote control, it will appear again on top of the image, letting you see the result of your tweaking, press Exit to quit, Guide to reenter, and so on.
It would be a good idea to write down somewhere each value before making any change... You'll have to check Store to permanently apply your changes or Restore to undo them. There is also an option to restore factory values if something goes wrong...
1. Use the remote to put the set into Standby
2. Press and hold the "Vol -" button on the front of the set
3. Press and hold the "Prg -" button on the set. Keep both buttons down for about 8 seconds then the TV will turn on and the service menu will appear.
THAT'S IT ---- I was holding down the -prog & -vol at the same time, Apparently this is the same for all Thomson sets.
There are a few simple menus, making it pretty easy to adjust all the usual things. While in service mode you can press "Exit" on the remote to get an unobscured, full-screen view of adjustments, after which the Blue FastText button gets you back into the service menus.

Going to look BUT I'm not going to change anything although you can restore to default in case you f*** it up.
Anyhow go into the service menu (SEE LAST POST) - select "Chassis setup" from here you have:-
Subwoofer
Pict.rotation
Toplight - tick this, exit service menu
now goto installation->preferences.
You will now see this has been added to the menu;
"Front panel light" - a slider adjusts from off to fully bright.
