01 - The Demo - Recorded at Pathway Studios on July 2, 1977

02 - The Warner Brothers LP version - Recorded at Basing Street Studios sometime between February 13, and March 05, 1978

03 - The WB re-recording at Pathway Studios fr om April 20, thru April 26, 1978

After the recording of the first Dire Straits album at Basing Street Studios (February 13 – March 05, 1978), the results were played to Phonogram’s marketing people. Some of them thought that "Sultans of Swing" was too polished and smooth sounding for the single to be embraced by rock radio, so the band re-recorded this song between April 20th and 26th, 1978, back at Pathway Studios wh ere they had recorded the original demo.
