Guys, there is no need to argue about Watt/DB tolerance because it depends from the characteristics of the drivers used in the loudspeakers (along from few other factors). Two drivers in the same enclosure and with same sensitivity would behave very much differently being driven by the same amp. One driver would make sound too loud when you incense 1-2 db of amplification. Another will accept 5-6 db with NO audible affect. I never thought why it happens but I have seen it in very many instances. As the rule: the more a driver was able to discriminate the input power the better it was all-around sound wise…
